The Thelma Balyeat Memorial Scholarship for Women was established in 2005 by a former Murdoch Professor of Economics, Dr Dirck Ditwiler, to enhance the opportunities for mature age women students over 30 years old.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be:​

  • an Australian citizen.
  • a woman aged 30 years or over
  • studying an undergraduate degree at Murdoch University in Arts & Global Issues (Media & Public Policy), Business or Information Technology
  • enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit points or more
  • experiencing personal and financial hardship

Required Documents

This scholarship requires you to provide the following documents:

  • completed application form 
  • a personal statement of no more than 300 words 
  • evidence of financial hardship (e.g. payslips, tax notice of assessment or Centrelink income statement)
  • evidence of personal hardship


Payment Method

Payments will be made directly into your nominated bank account in the following instalments:

  • $1,250 in week 7 or 8 of the semester you are awarded
  • $1,250 in week 7 or 8 of the consecutive second semester

All payments are subject to your acceptance and ongoing compliance with the terms and conditions of the award.
