Receiving an offer is an exciting step in your journey at Murdoch.

Whether you applied through TISC or directly to Murdoch, you’ll receive your offer by email – so make sure you keep an eye on your inbox. If you receive an offer, you’ll need to respond by the deadline noted in the email or apply for an extension.

Here’s what you need to know about accepting an offer and securing your place at Murdoch.

Domestic students

Enabling programs

If you’ve been offered a place in one of our enabling programs, you need to:

  1. Activate your student account using your Murdoch student number, which can be found in your offer letter. You can also set up your student password and confirm your email address and mobile number.
  2. Accept your offer and secure your place at Murdoch.

Undergraduate, honours and postgraduate courses

If you’ve been offered a place in one of our undergraduate, honours or postgraduate courses, you need to:

  1. Activate your student account using your Murdoch student number, which can be found in your offer letter. You can also set up your student password and confirm your email address and mobile number.
  2. Accept your offer to secure your place at Murdoch. Alternatively, you can defer until the next semester, or reject your offer if you no longer wish to study at Murdoch.

Remember: if you’ve changed your mind about what you want to study at Murdoch, you may be able to transfer to a different course after you start. Contact Student Central to discuss your options.

Our enabling programs

Research degrees

After you’ve written your research proposal and submitted your research application, your submission will be reviewed by the Graduate Research School, your agreed supervision panel, and the School Dean. Processing time will vary depending on the degree you’re applying for and whether you're applying for a scholarship – the Graduate Research team will be able to provide an estimated response time when you submit your application.

If your application is successful, you’ll receive a formal offer of admission via email. You will need to formally accept or decline this offer in writing – we will email you a form to sign and return to us.

If you cannot start by the previously agreed date, please contact our Graduate Research School as soon you receive your offer.

International students

Packaged students

You may receive an offer if you’ve completed a course with one of our off-campus partner institutions. If you’re an international student, this offer will allow you to apply for a visa covering the full duration of your course in Australia.

To respond to your offer, please follow the instructions in your packaged Letter of Offer.

Once you complete your packaged course, you will be issued with a new Letter of Offer which you can accept via the Online Response System

Undergraduate, honours and postgraduate courses

Before responding to your Murdoch offer, please read and understand your Letter of Offer and decide whether you will acceptdefer or reject the offer.

Accepting your offer

You can accept, defer, or reject your Letter of Offer via the Online Response System

To accept your offer, you will need to accept your offer in the Online Response System and upload it to MyAdmission:

  • a copy of your passport (page with photo ID)
  • evidence of the payment made to accept the offer (Deposit on Offer + SSAF + OSHC)
  • evidence of Overseas Students Health Cover details, if not paid to Murdoch University.

Once you have accepted your place and have been issued with a Confirmation of Enrolment, you will be able to activate your student account using the Murdoch student number you’ll find in your offer letter. You can then enrol online.

Deferring your course

In certain circumstances, you may be able to defer the commencement of your studies to a different teaching period. You can request a deferral in the Online Response System.

You may not be able to defer if:

  • you are seeking to defer for a time period longer than two years depending on your circumstances; or
  • there will be changes to your course, changes to the admission requirements, or no availability in the course when you intend to commence study; or
  • you are not able to produce valid documentation to show that the admission requirements will be met for the new commencement date of your study; or
  • you have received a Confirmation of Enrolment and have no compelling or compassionate circumstances beyond your control that impact your ability to commence the course or impact your well-being. Such circumstances will be considered on an individual basis, and may include, but are not limited to:
    • a student visa has not been granted in time to commence
    • a serious illness or injury supported by a medical certificate
    • a bereavement of a close family member, supported by a death certificate if possible
    • a major political upheaval or natural disaster in the student’s home country requiring emergency travel
    • a traumatic experience supported by a statement from the police or a health worker
    • where Murdoch was unable to offer a pre-requisite unit
    • the student is required to undertake military service in their home country, supported by a travel itinerary if possible.

Rejecting your offer

If you no longer wish to study at Murdoch, please reject your Letter of Offer via the Online Response System. 

If you’ve changed your mind about what you want to study at Murdoch, you may be able to apply for a new course or transfer to a different course after you commence. Contact Student Central to discuss your options.
