The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003 (PID Act) facilitates the disclosure of public interest information and provides protection for those making disclosures and those who are the subject of disclosures. The PID Act provides a system for the matters disclosed to be investigated and for appropriate action to be taken.
Murdoch’s Public Interest Disclosure Policy (also known as "whistle-blowing" policy) and Public Interest Disclosure Procedure ensures that the University meets its commitments under the PID Act and provides a framework for making disclosures under the Act, ensuring the investigation of such disclosures, and providing protection for persons making disclosures from reprisals.
Disclosures under the PID policy can be made to a Public Interest Disclosure Officer (PID Officer) of the University, or other proper authorities as detailed in the policy.
Further information is available from the Public Sector Commission.
