2024 Report
This year’s report includes a detailed overview of sexual harm incidents reported at Murdoch University from 2021 until September 2024, and actions taken to prevent and respond to incidents.
The report shows the number of annual disclosures received are fairly consistent, with spikes aligned to awareness activities or when multiple disclosures have been received about an individual.
All non-anonymous disclosers were offered access to relevant counselling services and wider supports. While outcomes for perpetrators focussed on educative measures, including targeted training and behavioural expectations meetings, strong actions such as suspension and exclusion from the University occurred.
The report references a number of initiatives undertaken to prevent sexual harm. However, a recent review and gap analysis highlights that these alone are not enough to achieve our prevention goals. The report reconfirms Murdoch University’s commitment to doing more to prevent incidents, with the gap analysis forming the benchmark from which the University will develop a robust action plan in early 2025.
