Why study agricultural sciences at Murdoch?

If you want to be part of a problem-solving team dedicated to advancing agricultural industries and fostering sustainable solutions to global challenges, then agricultural sciences could be for you.

At Murdoch, our courses emphasise the importance of sustainable farming practices and animal welfare that benefit not only farmed animals but also wildlife and the broader environment.

Our partnerships with agricultural industry leaders provide students with unique opportunities to apply their theoretical learning to the real world, by gaining hands-on experience and making valuable connections through work placements. Through these partnerships, we stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the industry, to ensure that our programs remain relevant and innovative.

As a Murdoch student, you’ll learn from academics who are involved in cutting-edge agricultural research, and who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and experience with students. You’ll have access to the latest technologies and tools needed to succeed in today’s agricultural industry.

We are proud to say we are the only city-based university in Australia with a farm and animal production property (which allows us to care for large livestock animals). Designed for your practical classes, this is where you may find yourself managing soil sampling procedures or practising animal handling techniques. Plus, Murdoch also boasts an additional fully operational farm on our South Street campus and Whitby Falls Farm. This farm hosts research and teaching facilities, including horses, cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. Plus our campus also provides easy access to our regional innovation precinct in food and animal production.

Murdoch graduate from Agricultural Sciences
Studying both Crop and Pasture and Animal Science gave me the opportunity to learn about all sectors of the industry. In my first year, I went on field trips, handled animals and spoke to people directly involved in agriculture. All my academics were actually involved in the industry.
