Banksia Association Honours Scholarship
The Banksia Association is a group of individuals who have made an impact on Murdoch University during its 50 year history. Banksia Association members include past members of the University Senate, individuals who have been awarded Honorary Degrees, Emeritus Professors and others who are passionate about Murdoch University and Higher Education.
The Banksia Association Honours Scholarship was established in 2008 to encourage our highest achieving students to continue their education at Murdoch University by providing them with financial assistance during their Honours year.
Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship you must:
- be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- be currently enrolled, or intending to enrol, in an honours course full-time at Murdoch University in either Semester 1 or Semester 2, 2025
- have a record of high achievement in previous studies and/or professional work, whether or not related to the proposed field of study in your honours course
- be experiencing challenges in undertaking the honours project that could be usefully offset by the assistance of a Banksia scholarship
- be available to attend an awards ceremony held by the Banksia Association.
Please note that while this is a merit-based scholarship, personal and financial hardship may still be considered by the panel.
How to Apply
Complete the online application form below and attach the required documents by the closing date.
Required Documents
This scholarship requires you to provide the following documents:
- completed application form.
- a personal statement of no more than one A4 page.
In the personal statement include "why you think this research is important". - a summary of your intended honours project of no more than one A4 page.
- written confirmation from your proposed honours supervisor confirming supervision of your project.
- evidence of academic or work performance.
- 2 written references ( 1 x academic and 1 x personal).
Payment Method
Payments will be made directly into your nominated bank account in the following instalments:
- $6,000 in week 7 or 8 of the semester you are awarded
- $6,000 in week 7 or 8 of the consecutive second semester
- $3,000 upon successful submission and grading of your Honours thesis
All payments are subject to your ongoing acceptance and compliance with the terms and conditions of the award.
