Science Fiction
The Science Fiction Collection, from its inception in 1974, has been characterised by a close and longstanding relationship with the Australian science fiction community. The Collection is of national and local significance and it contains a number of rare and unique items related to Australian science fiction fandom.
The collection consists of science fiction literature and supporting materials including science fiction, fantasy and horror novels by local and international authors, comics, graphic novels, memorabilia and ephemera, magazines and fan publications (fanzines).
Brian Aldiss Collection

Faster Than Light Radio Show
The Faster Than Light Radio Show was hosted by Grant Stone and broadcast from 1978 to 2012 on 6UVS-FM (now RTRFM). Grant interviewed many Australian and international authors, editors and filmmakers for the show. He also provided an analysis of popular culture through book, television program and film reviews. Recorded and produced in the audio studios at Murdoch University, the show was syndicated nationally in Australia and New Zealand from the early 1990’s. The collection consists of episodes of the show recorded on sound tape reels and audio cassettes.

Leigh Edmonds Collection
Leigh Edmonds was a founding member and editor of the Australian and New Zealand Amateur Publishing Association (ANZAPA) mailing. He was active in the Australian science fiction fandom community from the mid 1960’s to the late 1980’s. The collection consists of organised files of Australian and international fanzines published from 1968 to 1986, including an archive of Leigh’s publications and his correspondence with other fanzine creators, editors and publishers. Also access to the IOTA e-fanzine published by Leigh to document his research into the history of Australian Science Fiction fandom.

20th Century Paperback Collection
The 20th Century Paperback collection contains samples of all the major US and UK paperback publishers and esoteric imprints from the 20th century that have long since disappeared. The collection consists of approximately 2,000 titles by various publishers from the mid 1940’s to late 1980’s, the majority by Pan Books (now part of Macmillan Publishers).

Andy Collins Collection

Film Tie-In Collection
The collection consists of four types of film and television program tie-ins:
- Original novels which have subsequently been made into a film or television program
- Reissues of previously published original novels which have been adapted into a film or television program (usually repackaged with the film or television program cover image and production details, sometimes with a different title from the original novel)
- Novelizations of film screenplays and television program scripts
- Novels based on films and television programs
The
collection is comprised of items published from the mid 1960’s to the
late 1990’s with a focus on Australian, American and British films and
television programs.

Mills and Boon Collection
Judy Adamson, former archivist at Film Australia, collected Mills and Boon romance novels for over 30 years. The collection consists of 3,700 paperbacks, published from the early 1940’s to the early 2000’s. The majority published by Mills & Boon, plus a few titles from related publishers including Harlequin and Silhouette.

Popular Men’s and Women’s Magazines Collection
The collection consists of magazines that were sold ‘over the counter’ at Australian newsagents from the 1930’s to the late 1990’s, providing snap shots of the way popular culture in Australia and internationally has changed over the decades. There are some magazines that could be considered offensive and were on restricted sale in Western Australia.
Poster Collection
The Poster Collection covers many significant themes, including women’s suffrage, anti-Vietnam War protests, gay rights and Aboriginal issues. It also includes theatre and music performance advertisements, film daybills and book cover art prints.

Media studies
6UVS FM: An Audio History
Perth’s first stereo FM radio station was created in 1977 as 6UWA, broadcasting from studios located in the grounds of the University of Western Australia. In 1979 the station was renamed 6UVS-FM when Murdoch University became involved in its funding. In 1987 6UVS-FM presenter Virginia Rivalland produced a documentary about the first 10 years of the station, featuring interviews with people involved in the station at the time. The collection consists of sound tape reels of interviews, created to compile the documentary programme ‘Play it again : a radio documentary, 10 years of FM broadcasting at 6UVS-FM'.

Film Ephemera Collection
The Film Ephemera collection consists of film festival programs, cinema screening calendars, advertising flyers and stills from films screened at the Film and Television Institute (FTI), Lumiere Cinemas and Luna Cinemas in Western Australia.Preferred Citation

Original ABC Radio Drama Manuscripts
The collection consists of 17 original ABC original drama manuscripts.

Play Scripts from TV Script Production Course
The collection consists of 16 play scripts of original unpublished works reproduced in limited runs and used for study by students of the Screen Production course at Murdoch University in 2002.

Toronto Film Society Programme Notes
The Toronto Film Society programme notes provide background information and interpretative comment on the creative contribution of directors, writers, cinematographers, choreographers, etc., together with a summation of critics' appraisals where available and appropriate. The collection consists of notes for Season 7 (1954/55) to Season 35 (1982/83).
