Michael Durey Collection

The Michael Durey Collection was acquired to support historical research funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC). The collection consists of microfilmed newspapers from the United States, England and Ireland and theses that were produced from the 1700’s to the 1900’s.

Rottnest Island Oral History Collection

The Rottnest Island Oral History Collection contains interviews about life on Rottnest Island from the 1910’s to the 1940’s recorded by the Murdoch University History Club. The collection consists of audio cassettes of interviews, also photographs and documents provided by the interviewees to accompany their recorded memories.

Griff Watkins Collection

Griffith (Griff) Wynne Watkins (1930-1969) was an art teacher and writer. From the late 1950's, Griff published poetry and short stories in numerous periodicals, winning several prizes and awards. His novel 'The Pleasure Bird' was published in 1967. The collection consists of original manuscripts of novels, short stories and poetry.

The Rare Books Collection holdings are based on the following criteria:
  • An edition of less than 500 copies
  • Australian imprint pre-1900
  • Non-Australian imprint pre-1850
  • Signed by the author
  • Of noteworthy provenance
  • Deemed to be vulnerable
  • Subject to legal restrictions on access
The collection consists of over 4,500 items.
