Create carousel and slides
Before adding a hero carousel to your page, it is necessary to create a new carousel on the Carousel component page, in addition to the accompanying Slides.
- Add Carousel
- Add Slides
- Navigate to Content > Hero Carousel and click on Hero Carousel
NOTE: If you don't see Hero Carousel in the dropdown, use the support form to make a request and we'll include it for you.
- Click Create a hero carousel. Give the hero carousel a name under Title and hit Publish to save.
- Next, hit the icon on the top left of the screen (where it says "Published...") to return to the Hero Carousel screen and to create a slide
- On the Hero Carousel screen, you can create a slide for your carousel by either
- Clicking on the carousel you just created and then click Create a hero slide.
- Click the New hero slide link in blue.
- Enter a title for you slide into Heading (limit of 50 characters)
- Include wording for the slide under Text (limit of 150 characters)
- Click the icon under Slide image to add an image from the library or to upload a new one to the slide.
- You have the option to add a button that links to an internal or external page.
- Name your button under CTA Label
- Click the icon under Link to... to display a list on pages within the same site
- Alternatively, enter the URL in Link to an external page for pages to other Murdoch sites or to sites outside the organisation
- Click Publish to and hit the icon at the top left of the screen (where it says "Published...") to exit the slides page
How to use
After completing the steps above to create the carousel and slides, you may now add them to the page following the steps below.

- Delete
- Click Hero Carousel on the Drag widgets toolbox to the right of the screen.

- Locate the Hero Slides widget and drag it across to the top section on the page under the navigation and logo
- Click Edit to view options for the Hero Slides widget.
- Under Which hero slides to display? tick From selected hero carousels only....
- Click Select and then tick the carousel you created in the list that appears. Then hit Done Selecting to save.
- Navigate to and click on the List Setting tab
- Under the List Template dropdown, there are options to select the layout of the carousel slides. The default option is Hero slides and should not be used. Instead, the allowed options available are Hero carousel, Hero carousel circle, Hero carousel eclipse and Hero carousel full width.
- Click More at the top right of the widget
- Select Delete in the dropdown to remove the widget.
