Documents should be used sparily on a website, and restricted to occasions where a user may be required to download or print information for later use. All documents used on the website are required to be fully accessible.
Guidelines
- In general, PDF format should be used (for both usability and accessibility reasons);
- If your document is a form, please consider whether an online form can be used instead;
- it is easier to create an accessible document from the outset, than to convert an existing document;
- As with images, documents should be tagged as follows when uploaded:
- Category - describes where on the site the document is used;
- Tag - describes what type of document it is (e.g. brochure, application form, etc)
How to upload a document:
- First check that your document is fully accessible;
- Log into Sitefinity, navigate to Content > Documents & Files (all documents should uploaded into the Default library) ;
- Click the green Upload docments button (near the top right);
- You can drag and drop documents into the upload window or select Upload documents from your computer and navigate to your document folder;
- Add the appopriate Tag and Category;
- Click Use selected and your image will be uploaded and published.
