Veterinary Medicine Clinical Year (N1112)
The Veterinary Medicine Clinical Year program (N1112) permits completion the Evaluated Clinical Experience (ECE) requirement of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE)*.
Murdoch University offers Evaluated Clinical Experience as part of the non-award course, N1112 (Veterinary Medicine Clinical Year), but is not otherwise involved in the PAVE program. All other aspects of the PAVE program are the responsibility of the applicant.
The course is integrated with the final year of clinical rotations, as completed by our other final year veterinary students. The 48 weeks of the clinical year will include 23 weeks of core rotations, 10 weeks of streaming (with focus on a chosen field e.g. small animal practice, production animal practice, wildlife, equine practice, mixed practice) and completion of 15 weeks of assessed clinical activity at external practices (approved by our School) or internally. SGU and Ross students will complete 15 weeks of EME within that 48 week total.
Applications for this program will be shortlisted based on the following items:
- A letter of motivation
- Curriculum vitae
- Academic transcripts
- QSE (Qualifying Science Examination) result
- Three references
- CASPER test result
- Confirmation of International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least 7, with no score less than 7 in any band. Other acceptable tests and required results are listed here: English requirements for DVM
The QSEs are held each year in January, May and September. If you wish to apply for a 2025 start we recommend you take the September exam if you have not already taken it in the earlier months. The PAVE information states that “For the ECE to count toward the PAVE requirement for clinical proficiency, you must pass the QSE prior to the start of your first clinical rotation”.
Applications should be submitted via MyAdmission portal
The deadline for receipt of applications is August 31st 2024.
Please contact VetAdmission@murdoch.edu.au if you have any further questions.
