Welcome to the School of Indigenous Knowledges
Kaya, Wandju! Welcome to the School of Indigenous Knowledges (SIK). SIK is a multi-disciplinary school that introduces students to Indigenous Knowledge across a range of topics including health sciences, education, physical sciences, and the social sciences.
Our units aim to share knowledge that has been generated by Indigenous peoples, both locally and globally, informed by Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing. Our offerings provide students with complementary and alternative worldviews to Western-based disciplinary knowledge.
Students will be exposed to knowledge generated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Country, and they will learn from Aboriginal experts across a range of fields. Graduates who undertake SIK units will learn how to make a commitment to Truth Telling, reconciliation, relationship-building, and positive contributions within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
SIK is co-located with the Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre. We welcome you to explore our website and find more about our programs, our research, our people, and our projects.
