Meet the Scientist brings real research directly into your classroom. Schools can book a Harry Butler Institute expert to present to a class or subject group on a chosen topic aligned to our areas of environmental science, biosecurity, renewable energy, waste management – all currently involved in WA-based projects.
Each session includes a 40-minute presentation, which may feature examples of current technologies and field or lab methods used by our researchers. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with a working scientist.
Teachers receive a student handout/worksheet, plus links to related research and extension learning opportunities. Where possible, presentations are mapped to the Western Australian Curriculum. To ensure the visit meets your learning needs, teachers must complete an application form outlining the purpose, objectives, and expected outcomes of the presentation.
