BirdLife Australia is leading the way in bird conservation. Perth NRM is a highly regarded for-purpose organisation in the natural resources management (NRM) sector. We have a long tradition in the environmental management, landcare and the agricultural sectors, as the organisation responsible for the National Landcare Program's Swan Region Natural Resource Management unit. We collaborate with governments (federal, state and local), community, academics and the corporate sector to deliver solutions to environmental issues.

The South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL) brings together the community, business and government to develop and implement projects that improve the health of our waterways and other ecosystems.

One of five sub-regional bodies, the area SERCUL covers takes in Dyarguu (the Canning River), the Southern Wungong River and their tributaries and parts of Derbarl Yaragan (the Swan River).
We undertake a variety of community and partnership projects that meet our objectives and ensure our vision is being achieved. These projects fall within three main categories: Landcare and restoration, environmental education, monitoring and research.

SERCUL

Peel Harvey Catchment Council is a not-for-profit, community based Natural Resource Management organisation that promotes an integrated approach to catchment management and the way we protect and restore the environment within the Peel-Harvey catchment.

With a strong emphasis on partnerships, we work with landholders, community groups, industry, the Australian Government, Government of Western Australia and local governments to affect change ‘on-ground’ and in the way we manage our environment. Our activities address sustainable natural resource management (NRM) including climate change, river and wetland restoration, biodiversity protection including threatened species, sustainable agriculture and building community capacity.

Landcare SJ Inc is a non for profit community group that coordinates landcare, bush care and catchment care in the districts of Serpentine Jarrahdale and North Murray. In partnership with other groups and landholders in the community, we develop and enact programs to achieve: a reversal in land degradation; promotion of best land management practices; conservation and restoration of habitat for native flora and fauna; and improvement of water quality in river systems, drains and wetlands. The Landcare SJ vision is to provide the means for the community to care for the land today, in a way that will leave it better for tomorrow. Landcare SJ has been supporting Black Cockatoo recovery since 2005.

The Urban Bushland Council WA Inc. (UBC) is the peak body of over 80 community groups who share a common interest in recognising and conserving urban bushland and wetlands. The Council plays a crucial role in advocating for urban bushland protection and good management practice in Government at all levels. UBC is a volunteer-led, non-governmental organisation registered as a charity.

Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre is a specialist wildlife centre located in Perth, dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and injured wild native black cockatoos. We are the only facility dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of black cockatoos in Australia.

We rescue wild black cockatoos in distress – most having been struck by vehicles, ill, shot, fallen, pulled from their nests, or attacked by ravens, pets, or other birds – and rehabilitate them at Kaarakin before releasing back into the wild.

Curtin University is developing new biodiversity and impact assessment tools. The Trace and Environmental DNA (TrEnD) lab at Curtin University are world leaders in DNA based monitoring. Trace amounts of DNA isolated and characterised from biological substrates including sediments, scats (faeces) and water is collectively referred to as environmental DNA (eDNA). This preserved but often-degraded genetic material provides a means to rapidly and accurately identify species and survey biological communities. When combined with next generation sequencing technologies, eDNA can provide a wealth of information on; biodiversity, food web dynamics, diet analysis, restoration ecology and invasive species.

Perth Zoo gets hands-on in wildlife conservation, at home and beyond our borders. One simple vision inspires and directs our work – a world where diversity of species and habitats is secure.

The role and purpose of zoos have changed enormously in recent decades. Perth Zoo – in collaboration with scientific agencies, governments and other conservation partners – plays a part in the much bigger picture of the conservation of our natural world. We contribute directly to the preservation of species and habitat diversity while also providing visitors with the opportunity to encounter the natural world and become involved in conservation.

Apace is dedicated to helping the disadvantaged within our community by creating a safe venue where people can make positive contributions to their environment. Apace is self funded and we rely on the nursery operation, enterprises, memberships and donations to carry on our work.

Our Town designed and developed bird waterers provide safe, clean and low maintenance water sources for all birdlife, and especially for our Endangered Carnaby Cockatoos and Vulnerable Red-Tailed Cockatoos.

The Town is proud to supply our Cockitroughs to 40++ areas around Perth metro, contributing to birdlife and nature conservation, and encouraging greater collaborations with other local governments and communities.
